Valencia to host the international event Aquaculture Europe 2025

Valencia (Spain) September 16th, 2024 | The event aims to become the epicenter of aquaculture in Europe during September 2025

Following the resounding success of AQUA 2024 in Denmark, the next major European aquaculture event, Aquaculture Europe 2025 (AE2025), will be held in Valencia, Spain, from September 22 to 25, 2025. Organized by the European Aquaculture Society (EAS), this event will bring together industry leaders, researchers, policymakers, and key stakeholders from around the world to explore the future of sustainable practices in aquaculture.

The importance of aquaculture in Spain, particularly in the Mediterranean region, alongside the focus on research, makes AE2025 a must-attend event for next year. According to Alistair Lane, Executive Director of EAS, “this event will be an unmissable occasion for those looking to drive innovation and sustainability in aquaculture.”

The President of the Conference Organizing Committee, Professor Jaume Pérez Sánchez, a researcher at the Institute of Aquaculture Torre de la Sal (IATS, CSIC), expressed his excitement: “We are thrilled to host the European conference in Valencia. Following the global success of AQUA 2024, this conference will continue the dialogue on innovation and sustainability in aquaculture.”

Under the theme "Aquaculture for All," AE2025 will offer an inclusive platform for experts and enthusiasts from around the world. With a focus on environmental sustainability, regeneration of primary sectors, and the development of local human capital, the event aims to highlight the importance of aquaculture in the global food chain.

AE2025 will also feature a wide range of scientific and innovation presentations, an international trade exhibition, industry forums, student activities, and workshops on the latest EU research. Key organizers include APROMAR (Spanish Aquaculture Producers Association), FEAP (Federation of European Aquaculture Producers), and EATIP (European Aquaculture Technology and Innovation Platform).

With a program led by Dr. Diego Mendiola, Director of Innovation at CAVIAR PIRINEA, and Dr. Martin Fore, professor at NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology), AE2025 will offer a unique experience in aquaculture science and the fostering of new international collaborations.

Valencia, one of Spain’s most important regions in the aquaculture sector, not only in production volumes but also in scientific excellence, will provide the perfect setting for this event. The region is well-known for its production of marine species such as gilthead sea bream, meagre, and European sea bass.

The event is organized by EAS, with the support of CSIC, the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food, the Generalitat Valenciana, the Valencia Convention Bureau, and the ThinkinAzul-Valencia project.

AE2025 is expected to be a global benchmark for aquaculture, offering keynote speeches, panel discussions, hands-on workshops, and an exhibition of the latest technological innovations.
