The European Aquaculture Society (EAS) will spotlight the crucial role of animal welfare in aquatic settings at the forthcoming Aquaculture Europe 2025 in Valencia, not only for ethical reasons but also for its importance to the sustainability and efficiency of the industry.
Aquaculture Europe 2025 is slated to run from 22-25 September in Valencia. The "Welfare" session will be led by Dr. Benjamin Costas from the Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR) at the University of Porto, Portugal, and Dr. Juan Miguel Mancera from the University of Cádiz, Spain.
Dr. Costas shared with misPeces: “This session offers a unique chance to emphasise the pivotal role of welfare in aquaculture, vital not only for the ethical treatment of aquatic animals but also for the sustainability and productivity of the industry, as healthier animals are more productive and less prone to disease outbreaks.”
As Dr. Costas explains, researchers interested in this session should submit their abstracts for the "Welfare Session" by 1 May.
Under the claim "Aquaculture for Everyone", Aquaculture Europe 2025 will gather leading experts, researchers, and key industry figures to discuss the latest trends and innovations shaping the future of the industry. The event aims to serve as a dynamic hub for knowledge exchange, partnership cultivation, and the unveiling of revolutionary developments.
It's worth noting that the Aquaculture Europe 2025 event, hosted by CSIC and the Generalitat Valenciana in Valencia, invites interested researchers and practitioners to review submission details on the conference’s website at https://aquaseas.org/abstract/submit/ae2025.
