Skretting has announced the launch of a new generation of its flagship feeds, Lorica and Optiline, incorporating the company’s latest innovation, EDGEOS PhytoComplexes.

As reported by Skretting, the EDGEOS PhytoComplexes were created by Nutreco Exploration, a research team specializing in plant and bacterial science. The complexes combine bioactive compounds derived from whole plants or specific parts such as leaves, flowers and stems, and are designed to improve shrimp health and performance.

Skretting noted that the shrimp industry is evolving amid technological advances, changing trade conditions and growing sustainability requirements, making consistent growth and survival essential for producers. The new formulation of Lorica and Optiline have been developed to enhance productivity and provide higher efficiency compared with previous versions.

The company stated that Lorica now offers broader functional benefits to support shrimp resilience and overall health, building on its legacy as a functional health feed. Optiline, focused on optimised growth performance, combines balanced nutrition with natural growth promoters to improve feed efficiency and reduce nutrient discharge, while also lowering reliance on marine ingredients.

“The addition of EDGEOS PhytoComplexes to Lorica and Optiline allows us to uphold shrimp health and performance with greater precision than ever before,” said Dr Charles McGurk, Skretting’s R&D Director.

These ingredients support resilience and growth efficiency, offering farmers a more robust and sustainable solution,” he noted.

Leiner Lache, Innovation Director for Shrimp at Skretting Aquaculture Innovation, added that the new formulations were developed to meet current market conditions in close collaboration with customers, partners and Nutreco Exploration.

“Lorica and Optiline have been the best in their respective segments for over a decade, and we are confident they will continue to be,” Lache said. “These new versions provide innovative solutions that help farmers stay ahead and create value for the global shrimp industry.”

According to Skretting, the new Lorica and Optiline shrimp feeds will be available in Ecuador at the end of 2025, with further launches planed in other markets.
