Acuicultura Cádiz is recruiting a TECHNICAL MANAGER (RAS MANAGER)

Seriola RAS ongrowing facility located in El Puerto de Santa Maria - Spain

Acuicultura Cadiz is developing a pioneering land-based RAS facility for production of Seriola dumerili (Greater Amberjack) in Puerto de Santa María, Spain.

The company is controlled by Kingfish Norway, which also controls Futuna Blue — a leading Mediterranean broodstock and juvenile production company with extensive expertise in marine fish production and genetics.

The facility represents a new generation of Mediterranean aquaculture, combining advanced recirculating aquaculture technology, industrial operational standards, strong sustainability ambitions, and premium seafood production. It is the first step in a long-term ambition to build one of Europe’s most significant marine RAS operations.

As the company moves into startup and operational ramp-up, we are seeking an experienced and hands-on Technical Manager (RAS Manager) to lead all technical operations within the facility.

 

The Role

The Technical Manager will have overall responsibility for the technical infrastructure and operational reliability of the RAS facility. The role combines strategic technical leadership with hands-on operational involvement.

The role reports directly to the COO.

The successful candidate is expected to actively participate in technical operations, troubleshooting, optimization, and commissioning activities while leading the technical department and ensuring stable system performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate and approve commissioning, startup optimization,
  • Lead and manage all technical operations within the RAS facility
  • Ensure stable and efficient operation of pumps, drum filters, biofilters, oxygenation systems, degassing systems, sensors, and monitoring systems
  • Operate and further develop the facility’s SCADA system, including monitoring, alarm management, and process control optimization
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance systems and operational routines
  • Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and technical optimization
  • Supervise and lead maintenance and automation technicians
  • Ensure technical emergency systems and operational redundancy
  • Maintain and develop systems in a full seawater (marine) environment, including corrosion management and material compatibility
  • Work closely with the Production Department to maintain stable water quality conditions and stable production
  • Participate in future expansion phases

Qualifications & Experience

  • Engineering degree or technical education within mechanical, electrical, automation, process engineering, or similar
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant technical or industrial experience
  • Experience from RAS facilities is highly preferred
  • Documented experience with SCADA systems, including process monitoring, alarm configuration, and data logging
  • Strong understanding of pumps, piping systems, automation, sensors, and industrial maintenance
  • Experience with PLC systems and troubleshooting
  • Experience working with marine (saltwater) systems, including material selection and corrosion prevention, is considered a significant advantage
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken)
