The Council will seek a partial general approach on the regulation setting out the conditions for implementing this support, marking a further step towards establishing the member states' negotiating position.
Any agreement would not yet settle the financial allocation or other horizontal issues, which remain part of the wider negotiations on the Multiannual Financial Framework.
Ministers will also discuss amendments to the current 2021-2027 EMFAF, against a backdrop of calls to simplify access to EU funding for fishers and aquaculture producers.
