MEPs want greater consumer transparency, including nutritional information and omega-3 content where possible, as well as clear distinction between wild-caught and farmed products.
The resolution also calls for aquatic products to be clearly differentiated from plant-based alternatives and for misleading marketing practices to be addressed.
The resolution does not itself change existing labelling requirements, but sets out Parliament’s position ahead of future changes to EU marketing rules.
