Piszolla invests nearly €4m to move further into value-added trout processing

Piszolla & Eurotrucha is investing close to €4 million in a major upgrade of its processing facility in Alba de Tormes, Spain, adding a new line designed to fillet large trout.

Piszolla & Eurotrucha is investing close to €4 million in a major upgrade of its processing facility in Alba de Tormes, Spain, adding a new line designed to fillet large trout. The company expects the additional processing capacity to contribute to an approximately 20% increase in turnover and to create eight to ten jobs.

The investment signals a further move towards capturing more value from trout through processing rather than relying solely on production growth. Piszolla, part of France's Groupe Aqualande since 2018, will use the new capacity particularly for trout destined for its smoked-product range. Technology suppliers include JBT Marel Fish and Guelt. The company also expects lower energy use and a more efficient internal logistics chain, although it has not disclosed quantified energy or carbon-reduction targets.
