Dibaq Aquaculture, certificación ASC vertical

Dibaq Aquaculture is a Spanish family-owned company dedicated to the nutrition, health and welfare of fish and crustaceans. With a presence in more than 50 countries across four continents and over 40 years of experience in the aquaculture sector, the company reaffirms its commitment to the industry through the achievement of the ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) certification.

ASC is an independent organisation that oversees a certification programme aimed at promoting responsible aquaculture practices. To this end, it establishes production criteria based on principles such as respect for social and labour rights, employee health and safety, rigorous environmental management, and the sustainable sourcing of raw materials used throughout the production process. This international standard therefore ensures responsible and sustainable practices, with the objective of minimising environmental impact, promoting social well-being, and ensuring traceability in production.

In line with its commitment to these values, DIBAQ has, in recent months, pursued ASC certification. As José Luis Tejedor, Chief Executive Officer, explained, this involved carrying out “a comprehensive review in collaboration with an independent auditor (DNV)”. This process, he added, has made it possible to verify compliance with “strict environmental, social and labour requirements, ensuring adherence to the standard while strengthening risk management and sustainability across the entire aquaculture supply chain”.

The efforts undertaken, Tejedor noted, have focused on integrating these standards into the management systems of each territory, promoting consistent implementation across both global and local teams.

All this work responds to the demands and needs of our clients, which is a fundamental priority for the company. This commitment is reflected not only in environmental responsibility and sustainable production, but also in improving economic and biological performance at farm level. Meeting these expectations is essential, both from an environmental perspective and in terms of industrial performance.

“The achievement of ASC certification marks a decisive milestone in DIBAQ’s strategy, aimed at offering feeds that meet these standards in key regions, at a time when sustainable production is becoming increasingly essential across the industry,” said José Luis Tejedor.

Furthermore, by continuing to invest in differentiation through quality and sustainability, DIBAQ is currently the only European company certified under GLOBALG.A.P., BAP and CIPA standards. The addition of ASC certification further strengthens its strong commitment to the aquaculture sector at both national and international levels.
